Starry Night in Joshua Tree National Park

I had to do a LOT of work in post processing this photo. Back when I took this I was still shooting in jpg, (not RAW) and I didn't know as much about night photography as I do now and I'm kicking myself for not trying some different settings. It was such a long day of driving and exploring, I was so exhausted by the time I was taking these night shots I kind of just wanted to get to our hotel & sleep... A trip back here is on my bucket list, along with allowing more than just one night for a visit.

Lightning Bolt

I used a fast shutter speed for this & just kept shooting.. After about 50 frames, I finally caught a lightning bolt. So much fun!! Sometimes I get caught in the moment & forget about safety. Oops.

This was taken on the trail at the beautiful visitor center at Twenty Nine Palms.

Monsoon in the Distance

It was around 105 degrees on this day & I couldn't care less of the heat. The desert landscape & the dramatic skies were so amazing. I felt like a little kid with excitement, experiencing new places & it was such an adventure. Joshua Tree National Park is out of this world amazing. I'm blessed to have had such great timing since the day we were leaving the floods started coming & the roads were being closed.

Road To The Rains

Just before the flooding.... As we got to the south end of the park we passed rangers that were driving from where we came from, to close the roads due to flooding reports. Those flash floods happen quickly. Always keep an eye on the weather.
